When you are trying to see what processes are running on your Windows NT, XP, 2000 or 2003, you can being up the Task Manager.  This will give you a list of some of the processes currently running on your computer.

The problem then becomes figuring out what all those process are.  I found a good site that lists many of these processes and tells gives you information about them:
